In the UK, 6 million containers are imported annually, with 90% delivered by road. However, rail freight presents a sustainable alternative, reducing CO2 emissions by 76%. Logistics AI achieves this by automating scheduling and optimising multimodal transport, in this case rail and road bookings, based on Ship ETA, leading to reduced CO2 emissions and enhanced operational efficiency.
In 2023, net territorial greenhouse gas emissions in the UK are provisionally estimated to have been 384.2 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO2e), Domestic transport remains the largest source of emissions in the UK, accounting for 29.1% in 2023 which is equal to 111.8 (MtCO2e).
